Children's Trust Stakeholder Conference Weds 15th March 2016

Thank you to everyone that came along to Bromley Baptist Church on Weds evening. We were pleased that the Forum was invited to deliver a presentation at the annual Children's Trust Stakeholder Conference alongside Cllr Evans and Doug Paterson, Chief Exec Bromley LA.  The conference was a reminder of how useful it is to meet people from other organisations.
We were thrilled to receive several requests from organisations wanting to join the Forum membership and others, including both private and statutory partners, wishing to be added to our communication list. Events such as this can only help to strengthen the network of CYP services across the Borough and further joint working.

Our next open forum meeting on 15th June will focus on young peoples mental health and internet and social media awareness. Further details will follow.

LIVing On are providing a bereavement service in the local community.They are a childhood bereavement charity based in Orpington, whch supports children, young people and their families through a loss of a loved one.  They run regular grief groups throughout the year which bring bereaved families together, as well as providing abuddying service for those families in the early days of grief.  They would like to invite you to drop in to their introdcutory event to Living On on Thursday 28th April from 5pm to 7pm.  Please RSVP by email if you would like to attend to admin@livingon.org.uk or just go along and meet them.  If you are unable to attend but would like to arrange a meeting at another time or even a telephone call to find out more about them and how you can refer families to them, please email them.

Reading Well shelf help Reading well can help people cope with the pressures of life, feel better about yourself and boost your confidence using books.  The Reading Well books have been chosen by young people and health experts to help with difficult feelings and experiences that can affect wellbeing.  The books have information and advice as well as personal stories about dealing with feelings such as anxiety, depression or stress and experiences such as bullying.  Look out for books in your local library. There are more suggestions about useful fiction at reading-well.org.uk/shelfhelp

Bromley & Lewisham Mind offer Mindkit, free wellbeing and resilience sessions for 14-25 year olds.  These are delivered by trained, young adults with experience of emotional wellbeing difficulties. This can be a free 15 minute assembly-style Wellbeing and Resilience session or a 40 to 60 minute interactive workshop that fits in with organisations' and young people's timetables.  To book a Mindkit Workshop contact Michael Matania on 07764 967931 or email michael.matani@blmind.org.uk

The Bromley Rotary Giraffe Trail  The aim is to increase footfall in Bromley centre and participating venues, and attract visitors; give families enjoyment and a competition; raise money for participating charities; promote the name of Rotary in Bromley and the Rotary Club of Bromley’s involvement with town traders and businesses, charities, the local Council, the media and the public. Closure of Safe Network

From April 2016 Safe Network will close, and the NSPCC will be the new home for safeguarding support for the voluntary, community and faith sectors.

Since the creation of Safe Network in 2009 theNSPCC and Children England have worked together in partnership, to develop and deliver a range of tailored safeguarding resources and services for the voluntary and community sector. 
The service was funded by the Department for Education up until March 2015. However, since the contract with the government ended last year, funding for the Safe Network, which now runs on a reduced scale, has come solely from the NSPCC. 
In  time when providing quality safeguarding support to the voluntary and community sector is as important as ever, the NSPCC has decided to carry on the good work which Safe Network has started.
 Safe Network's tools and resources have found a new home, integrated with the NSPCC's mainstream services, and will continue to draw on the knowledge and experience of NSPCC experts and external partners across the UK.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) activities – free training for youth workers
The Wellcome Trust is providing opportunities for youth workers to interact with informal science learning experts. Grow the Game
Funding is available from the Premier League and The FA to increase participation in football in England. Grants can be used for projects that use football to increase participation by both players and volunteers.

Want to run a community event to celebrate Armed Forces Day on 25 June 2016?
Funding is available to help with Armed Forces Day festivities. Whether you’re having a tea party or a parade, anyone can submit an application!  Apply for 50% of the cost up to a limit of £10,000. Previous years have seen bids from a few hundred pounds for a street party to thousands of pounds to support larger events.
Deadline: 25 March 2016.

Healthy Hearts
Grants between £5,000 and £10,000 are available for innovative projects designed to promote heart health and to prevent or reduce the risks of heart disease in specific groups or communities.
Deadline: 30 March 2016.

Grassroots Funding Back in Croydon
Now in it's 8th year, groups working in Croydon can apply for a grant of up to £3,000 for projects that make life better for people in Croydon.
Deadline: 10 May 2016, 5pm.

HLF Grants for Places of Worship
Support for projects that involve urgent structural repairs to public places of worship that are listed at Grade I, II* or II in England.  Grants of between £10,000 - £250,000 are available.
Deadline: 24 May 2016 

Santander Changes to The Discovery Foundation
Registered Charities, Community Interest Companies (CICs), and Credit Unions can apply at any time to the above fund.  They will fund projects that address knowledge, skills, and innovation to give disadvantaged people the confidence to discover and create a new world of opportunities.

Golden bottle and Bulldog Trust - Reminder for the second and final round 2015/16:

This is a reminder email about the Golden Bottle and Bulldog Trust’s second and final round of funding for 2015/16.

The second and final round of funding for 2015/16 will open at 9am on the 1st of April 2016.  Applications cannot be accepted before this date. A 300 application cap will be in place meaning that once 300 applications have been received the funding round will close. We will endeavour to keep everyone up to date on how many applications have been received both on our website and on twitter. We do recommend that you send your applications in as close to the opening of the funding round as possible. All applications should be sent to grants@bulldogtrust.org Decisions will be communicated to all applicants by the 22nd of July 2016.

Comic Relief Local Communities Programme
A new round of the programme has opened to applications in London (excluding City of London, Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets). Grants are available to charitable organisations and groups for projects that improve people's life skills, education, employability and enterprise.
The following organisations are eligible to apply: resident's associations; community groups; social enterprises; community interest companies; community interest organisations; credit unions; community centres.

Grants of between £1,000 and £10,000 are available and must be for at least 30 per cent of the total costs of the project.  FreeSport’

This a grant available to Greater London-based organisations, designed to get Londoners active as part of the Mayor of London’s sports legacy programme.

FreeSport grants of between £400 and £1,500 are available this summer for organisations to run FREE sports activities for Londoners. The funding window for the next round opens at 10am Monday 4 April 2016, with the deadline for submission at 12pm Monday 9th May 2016.
